This play is designed to be used as an alternate play after running UMass Screen the Screener to Corner. After the defense begins recognizing the pattern of the cross screen in the screen the screener from the original play, this gives a fresh look that may catch the defense off guard.
Setup
This play is run out of a standard 4 Low set.
Execution
- O5 goes to set the cross screen for O4.
- O4 instead of using the cross screen takes a few steps in that direction hoping to get the defense on the inside instead of underneath, then uses a reverse pivot with the outside foot to seal on the strong side block.
- O5 after setting the faux screen should immediately backpedal to the elbow area.
- O2 then sets a screen just above the elbow for O5 who heads to the strong side corner looking for an open shot.
